Aysia Hilliard, an Atlanta native who grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia, is a proud graduate of Howard University, where she earned her degree in biology and chemistry in May 2023.
Following her graduation, Aysia began her role as the Genetics Program Coordinator at Grady Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center. There, she gained invaluable clinical experience, working as a genetic counseling assistant. Her responsibilities included developing patient pedigrees, conducting research surveys on breast cancer risk factors among mammogram patients, participating in outreach and education initiatives, and managing genetic testing information and results.
Outside of the classroom, Aysia stays active by taking spin classes, exploring new restaurants with friends, and going bowling. Her passion for outreach and education remains a driving force, which she plans to continue fostering at Emory. Aysia is thrilled to be part of the Emory Genetic Counseling Training Program and welcomes prospective students to reach out to her for guidance or with any questions.
