
Lauren Wilson grew up in Marietta, GA. She was introduced to the field of genetic counseling in high school, which led her to graduate from the University of Georgia in 2018 with a BS in Genetics and Biology.
After graduation, Lauren worked for three years as a Clinical Research Coordinator for Emory Winship Cancer Institute, where she coordinated consent and sample collection for the national biorepository ORIEN/Total Cancer Care. In the Fall of 2022, while Lauren was applying to Genetic Counseling programs, she transitioned into a Genetic Counselor Assistant role at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She was able to support Genetic Counselors in the Cancer Predisposition Clinic at Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, as well as contribute to the Childhood Cancer Predisposition Study.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys walking her dog Binxy, reading, drinking caffeine (tea or coffee), gardening, and working on projects around the house. She welcomes any questions regarding the program and genetic counseling in general.
