Brittany Adams grew up in Canton, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia. She always loved science, and after being introduced to genetics during a dual enrollment course she decided to major in genetics. She learned about genetic counseling through a faculty advisement session and decided to pursue this career upon graduating in the spring of 2021.
Shortly after graduating, she became a genetic counseling assistant in Knoxville, Tennessee, and worked in adult cancer at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. As a GCA, she had the opportunity to interact with patients, provide administrative support to the genetic counselor, and shadow cases when the opportunity arose. Outside of work, she became a volunteer crisis counselor with Crisis Text Line to provide compassionate support for people dealing with a variety of mental health experiences.
Brittany is excited to be back in the Atlanta area and is looking forward to exploring new coffee shops and finding the best spots for ice cream. She enjoys reading fantasy and binge-watching TV whenever she has the time. She is thrilled to be a member of the Emory GCTP class of 2025 and would love to answer any questions prospective students may have.
