Edwin Corgiat, Ph.D.
Edwin graduated with his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Moberg and Corbett labs in 2022.
J. Christopher Rounds, Ph.D.
Chris completed his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Moberg and Corbett labs in 2021. He is currently working as a Senior Scientist of Assay Development for Q2 Solutions.
Binta Jalloh, Ph.D.
Binta completed her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Moberg and Corbett labs in 2021. She is about to start a post-doctoral fellowship at the NIH.
Phil Byun, Ph.D.
Phil completed his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2018. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center in 2019. He is now an account representative at Omega Bio-Tek.
Rick Bienkowski, Ph.D.
Rick obtained his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2016 from the Moberg and Corbett labs. He worked as a senior research associate at RBC Capital Markets and then moved to SVB Leerink, where he is currently the Vice President for Equity Research.
Daniel Barron, M.D./Ph.D.
Danny completed his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2016. He is now in the University of Pennsylvania Psychiatry residency training program.
ChangHui Pak, Ph.D.
ChangHui completed her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2011 from the Moberg and Corbett labs. She is now an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Brian Robinson, M.D./Ph.D.
Brian completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell, and Developmental Biology in 2011. He was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Emory University in 2019.
Sarah (Jones) Nicholson, Ph.D.
Sarah completed her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2010. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia in 2012. Sarah then spent 5 years in Kenya as a community volunteer for the Christian Relief fund and is now a freelance medical writer.
Carolyn (Krisel) Beam, Ph.D.
Carolyn completed her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2009. She is currently a medical writer for Beam Medical Communications, LLC.
Nathan Mortimer, Ph.D.
Nathan completed his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2009. He is now as Assistant Professor of Cellular Immunology at Illinois State University.

Post-Doctoral Fellow
Joanna graduated from University of Texas-San Antonio with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 2007. She earned her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Baylor College of Medicine in 2014. Joanna completed a post-doc at Emory University with Dr. Renee Read in 2016. She then joined the Moberg lab in 2016. She now has her own lab at Kennesaw University, GA.
Dr. Shilpi Verghese, Ph.D. (she/her)
Post-Doctoral Fellow
Shilpi graduated from Loyola Academy, Hyderabad, India in 2005, and obtained her Master’s degree in Biotechnology from BIMR College of Life Sciences in Gwalior, India in 2007. She earned her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the University of Dayton in 2014 in Dr. Madhuri Kango-Singh’s lab, and then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Dr. Tin Tin Su’s lab at the University of Boulder Colorado. Shilpi joined the Moberg lab in August 2018. She now works as a Senior Scientist in Dr. Leila Rieder’s lab at Emory.
Can Zhang, M.P.H./Ph.D.
Can obtained her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Ocean University of China in 2005. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Biomedical Sciences in 2012. She started her post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab in 2012. During her time in the Moberg lab, she also received her Master’s in Public Health in Biostatistics from Emory University in 2017. She now works as at the CDC.
Gandhy Pierre-Louis, Ph.D., FIRST Fellow
Gandhy received his Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from Stanford University in 2014 in Jeff Axelrod’s lab. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab. Gandhy is now a professor of biology at Valencia College in Florida.
Jeremy Kupsco Ph.D.
Jeremy received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in Bob Duronio’s lab in 2007. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab. He is now a Research Informationist for the Emory University Health Science Library.
Jacob Kagey, Ph.D., FIRST Fellow
Jacob received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology in Paula Vertino’s lab. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab. He is now as Associate Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Seth Kelly, Ph.D., FIRST Fellow
Seth received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell, and Developmental Biology from Emory University in the lab of Dr. Anita Corbett in 2009. He then completed his post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab in 2013. He is now an Associate Professor at the College of Wooster.
Melissa Gilbert-Ross, Ph.D.
Melissa received her Ph.D. in Genetics from Stony Brook University in 2004 in Nancy Reich’s lab. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Moberg lab in 2011. She is now an Assistant Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Melissa is also the Director of Cancer Animals Models Shared Resource of the Winship Cancer Institute.
