Welcome to the Xhemalçe Laboratory

The Xhemalçe lab aims to decipher how epigenetic modifications regulate the expression of genetic information from DNA to RNA to proteins, with a particular focus on RNA modification pathways. We use a combination of cellular and molecular biology, RNA biochemistry, next generation sequencing and quantitative mass spectrometry to identify and characterise novel "writers", "erasers" and "readers" of RNA modifications.
The objective is to identify fundamental biological mechanisms of gene regulation, as well as potential therapeutic targets for cancer and metabolic diseases.
Interested in joining our lab?
Post-docs: Please send an application to Dr. Blerta Xhemalçe complete with your CV, publication list and a brief outline of your research experience and interests. Highly motivated candidates interested in RNA biology, epigenetics and cancer are particularly encouraged to apply.
Prospective graduate students: Students interested in joining the Xhemalçe lab need to first apply and get accepted into one of the graduate programs at Emory University.
Graduate students rotations: Please contact Dr. Blerta Xhemalçe to set-up an appointment.
Post-bacs and Undergraduate students: Please send an application to Dr. Blerta Xhemalçe complete with your CV, a brief outline of your research interests, as well as your future career goals.
