Jared was a neuroscience major at UAB due to his passion for wanting to understand who we are and how we become the persons we are today as this question has heavily influenced Jared becoming a neuroscientist and future neurologist. He received his PhD studying the long-term effects of traumatic mild brain injury on chronic pain while exploring strategies to mitigate pain after TBI. He chose Emory for training due to the wonderful training environment, chance to live in a major cultural hub that Atlanta is and communication and connections he felt with the people he met while interviewing here. The diversity within the program and leadership was also very important to him. Everyone made Jared feel welcomed and wanted here. He is very interested in all areas of neurology, but most specifically, neuroimmunology and neurocognition. Outside of medicine, Jared is extremely interested in racing, traveling, video games, board games, music (jazz), food, learning new hobbies and making new friends
