Kate grew up in the piney woods of Tyler, Texas. She studied Neuroscience at Baylor University, where she also became interested in problems facing the US healthcare system. She obtained her Master of Science in Public Health at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, where she studied the impact of health policy on healthcare outcomes. She continued to feed her love for both neuroscience and healthcare policy and advocacy in medical school and through serving in the Texas Medical Association. She was thrilled by the idea of coming back to Emory for neurology residency given her wonderful graduate school experience at the same institution, opportunity to work at Grady and serve a diverse patient population, incredible faculty and resources and the welcoming environment she felt on interview day. In her free time, she loves reading fantasy/sci fi books (with her cat Sookie), going to gym classes and enjoying the outdoors with her friends, fiancé and dog Winston.
