Lauren grew up in the Albany, GA, area and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for chemical engineering. She worked as an engineer before deciding to pursue medicine. While in medical school, she developed an interest in neurology. The field provided unique pathology and the opportunity to support patients through their diagnoses. She chose Emory for training mainly because of her experience during her away rotation. She felt like the residents were supportive of one another and the faculty genuinely cared about teaching. She also appreciated the ability to work with the underserved populations of Atlanta because they were part of the reason she originally chose to pursue medicine. In Lauren's free time, she enjoys traveling baking, and trying new restaurants in the city.
