PROFESSOR NKIRUKA NNONYELUM ODUNUKWE, BM.CHB, FWACP, MNIM, MD, is a Director of Research/Consultant Haematologist and Head of Research Innovation and Product Development, (RIND) at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). She led the Division of Genetics and Blood Disorders & Clinical Sciences Department for 13 years, where she was involved in HIV research with both local and international collaborations in the HIV treatment program to provide care, treatment, and support to over 25,000 people living with HIV/AIDS. She served on various technical committees for the government of Nigeria on HIV and other national assignments.
She supervises and mentors Resident Doctors, Ph.D. students, and Laboratory Scientists. She is an Examiner for the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians and participates in the accreditation of laboratories. She has received several awards, scholarships, and grants for short training and research. and has published over seventy articles in both local and international peer-reviewed journals. She was a member of the Expert Committee on Harmonization of /Standardization of the Training Curriculum for Doctors on the use of ARVs in Nigeria. She is a Nigerian in-country mentor in the EN-RTP program.
