Announcing Nadine Kaslow as Inaugural Director of Wellbeing, Resiliency, and Flourishing

Nadine Kaslow (psychiatry and behavioral sciences) is the inaugural Director of Wellbeing, Resiliency, and Flourishing for Emory at Grady. In this role, Nadine will continue to build upon her previous work supporting wellness-focused efforts on the Grady campus for providers, learners, and staff. The new programs she is tasked with developing will be inclusive, accessible, and tailored to the Grady community.

Holly Gooding (pediatrics) is the new Associate Dean of Professional Development and Education. Holly will help oversee the development of educators and the Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in this role.

Emory Quality Academy: Interprofessional Team Skills for Quality Improvement

Deadline to apply: Sept. 26

The Interprofessional Team Skills for Quality Improvement course is a 6-month longitudinal course with a project-based curriculum. This course trains interprofessional teams of health care professionals in quality improvement (QI) skills that they can apply to local settings, developing capacity for continuous improvement, interprofessional teamwork, and teaching QI as part of their work. Vascular Injury: Endovascular and Open Surgical Management 

In this book, Ravi Rajani (surgery), Joseph DuBose, and Pedro Teixeira bring endovascular and trauma specialists up to date on the rapidly evolving field of vascular injury management.

 

Feasibility of Multiparametric Perfusion Assessment in Diabetic Foot Ulcer Using Intravoxel Incoherent Motion and Blood Oxygenation-Level Dependent MRI

In this study, Marcos Schechter (medicine), Maya Fayfman (medicine), Gabriel Santamarina (medicine), Ravi Rajani (surgery), and others evaluate the sensitivity of intra-voxel incoherent motion (IVIM) and blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) MRI to microvascular changes in patients with DFUs.

 

Improving Communication in a Large Urban Academic Safety Net Hospital System: Implementation of Secure Messaging

In this study, Bhavin Adhyaru (medicine), Daniel Wu (emergency medicine), and others investigated how the implementation of secure messaging in addition to traditional paging would impact hospital communication.

 

Making mentoring more impactful for URiM students

In this manuscript, Carlos del Rio (medicine), Tracey Henry (medicine), and other illustrate tenets of mentorship that result in effective mentoring of URiM students by any physician regardless of race, ethnicity, or background.
