Ravi Rajani named Emory at Grady Executive Associate Dean
Ravi Rajani (surgery) has been named Executive Associate Dean (EAD) for Emory at Grady. Rajani currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Medical Education for Emory at Grady and served as the interim EAD for Emory at Grady since March 2023. Read more.

Gustavo Pradilla trial featured in The New England Journal of Medicine
Gustavo Pradilla (neurosurgery) and colleagues conducted a multicenter randomized trial involving patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage. The trial assessed minimally invasive surgical removal of the hematoma as compared with medical management. Read article.

Guillermo Umpierrez (medicine) received the Alan J. Garber, MD, PhD, MACE, Lectureship for the Prevention and Management of the Complication of Diabetes from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology.

Abigail Lott study receives $6 million to assess PTSD screening in pregnant Black women
Researchers at Emory University and the University of Missouri Kansas City have been awarded a five-year, $6 million award. The study will assess post-traumatic stress disorder screening approaches among pregnant Black women. Abigail Lott (psychiatry and behavioral sciences) is co-principal investigator on the study. Congratulations to Sara Turbow
Congratulations to Sara Turbow (medicine) on her recent accomplishments. Sara was appointed as an Associate Editor for the CDC's Preventing Chronic Disease Journal. Also, she is the principal investigator for the Atlanta Interprofessional Student Hotspotting program that received a 2024 President's Grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation.

Valeria Cantos and Carlos Saldana awarded CDC grants to advance sexual health initiatives
|
Valeria Cantos (medicine) and Carlos Saldana (medicine) each received a $1.4 million CDC U01 grant. The grants will aid in advancing sexual health initiatives prioritizing Hispanic and Latino populations in the Atlanta area over four years. Read more.

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is an emerging patient assessment tool that can be utilized for diagnostic and procedural purposes. Clinicians in a wide variety of specialties can utilize POCUS to improve bedside diagnostic assessments as well as improved safety and efficacy for procedural guidance. Apply.

The Health Equity Advocacy course is a 5-month multi-pronged educational intervention that will bring faculty, learners and community members from several institutions together to advocate around common health-related priorities. Open position: Emory at Grady Medical Director for Quality and Process Improvement
|
This individual will oversee development and implementation of quality and performance improvement initiatives for Emory providers on the Grady campus, help to identify and facilitate the implementation of best practices to mitigate and reduce risk of patient harm and will be responsible for the design and communication of quality reporting. The position reports directly to the Executive Associate Dean for Emory at Grady.
Interested candidates should have a track record of meaningful quality improvement-related activity, ideally in a leadership capacity. The position is funded for 0.2 FTE administrative time. The Climate and Health Actionable Research and Translation (CHART) Center seeks to develop free, relevant, and practical programming on climate change, health, and health equity to meet the needs of clinical professionals. CHART is planning to develop an introductory series directed at clinical professionals hoping to better understand how climate and health can be implemented into a clinical setting. Please complete the survey to help CHART implement cross-cutting climate and health trainings.
