My arrival at Emory in March coincided with a site visit from the LCME, the national accrediting body for medical education. During those meetings, I heard numerous examples of how our faculty members go above and beyond to ensure Emory SOM learners receive the highest quality of instruction and support. I continue to learn about all our outstanding education programs. Whether it's through innovative teaching methods, one-to-one mentorship or fostering an environment of academic excellence, you are preparing our future clinicians and scientists to solve the health challenges we face today and in the future. I am immensely proud to be part of this team.

Today, we celebrate you—our skilled and compassionate faculty educators—by recognizing Educator Appreciation Day. The SOM Recognitions Committee received more than 170 nominations, and selected honorees who best exemplify our shared values. I am inspired by the creativity and leadership demonstrated by my colleagues. Whether it’s introducing active learning techniques in resident lectures to enhance comprehension, retention and engagement; initiating a program that gives Morehouse medical students the opportunity to shadow Emory anesthesiologists; or embodying a commitment to continuous growth by mastering a new language to better serve families and trainees in their native language.

I hope you will take a moment to review the list of faculty members recognized during this year’s Educator Appreciation Day and reflect on the impact you have made in the lives of our learners and the broader medical community.
