Dear colleagues:
Today we recognize Educator Appreciation Day, which comes at a pivotal moment of growth and innovation across our school. Our degree programs are actively transforming how we educate the next generation of clinicians and scientists. Their achievements include the launch of a new, combined orientation experience called “Crossing the Threshold,” which marks the start of students' journey in health professions here at Emory, and a new interprofessional anatomy course bringing together PA and MD students this fall. Together, these programs are part of a broader effort to strengthen integrated curricula that foster deeper learning through active collaboration.
Exceptional teaching happens every day across the School of Medicine. This year, the SOM Recognitions Committee received over 260 nominations spotlighting dedicated faculty who exemplify the very best of our school. Their contributions reflect the breadth and depth of our educational mission—from innovative approaches in the classroom and clinical settings, to transformative mentorship, to leadership in developing programs that prepare the next generation of physicians, scientists, and health professionals.
I invite you to visit the Educator Appreciation Day website to view this year’s honorees and join in celebrating our colleagues whose dedication to education strengthens our community and shapes the future of medicine.
To all faculty and staff engaged in education, thank you. Your commitment to teaching, mentoring, and advancing educational excellence strengthens our institution and profoundly impacts our community.
With gratitude,
Sandra
