Dec. 20, 2024
Dear School of Medicine community,
Like many of you, I’m looking forward to celebrating the holidays with friends and family. But before the holiday break begins, I’m enjoying the festivities that mark the end of the year here in the School of Medicine. Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of attending the second annual Staff Awards lunch. It was a fantastic event where we shone a spotlight on the hard work of our staff, whose important contributions to our mission are not always recognized. From developing a model that can predict sepsis onset up to six hours earlier than existing criteria to providing outstanding mechanical support in the Division of Animal Resources—our staff are critical to our mission. I loved seeing recognition for our “gems,” those going the extra mile!
We also celebrated two commencements in December, with our Physician Assistant Class of 2024 graduating on Friday, December 13, and our Anesthesiologist Assistant Class of 2024 on Monday, December 16. The camaraderie I saw amongst these talented graduates bodes well for our future! Please join me in wishing them the best as they embark on their professional journeys.
Each of these celebrations is a testament to the hard work of faculty, staff, and learners across the School of Medicine. Check out upcoming issues of Team Emory Medicine to read more details and view photos of these events.
I send a special thank you to our residents, fellows, and faculty who will sacrifice time with your own friends and family to care for patients during the holidays. Your commitment is truly appreciated.
Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season and a happy 2025,
Sandra
