Dear colleagues,

Today marks the beginning of Together We Thrive Week in the School of Medicine—a week to celebrate our shared humanity through dialogue, learning, and connection.

While the landscape of academic medicine continues to evolve, we remain committed to fostering an inclusive environment where talented learners, faculty and staff can thrive.

I hope you’ll join in the activities of Together We Thrive Week as your schedule allows.

Monday Programming

This afternoon, we’ll hear from a panel of students who have partnered with faculty and staff to lead meaningful change. From Learners to Leaders will explore how trust, collaboration, and courageous action can help us build a stronger, more inclusive learning environment.

This evening, Taste of GME returns with dishes from around the world and a new addition: Breaking Bread, Building Belonging, an oral abstract session highlighting the advocacy and community engagement efforts of our trainees. It’s a celebration of culture, connection, and creativity.

Lastly, opening today in the lobby of the James B. Williams Medical Education Building is a special art gallery showcasing submissions from SOM faculty, staff, learners, and trainees. Featuring visual, cultural, written, and spoken works, the gallery is a space for creative expression and community storytelling, open through Thursday.

Tuesday Programming

Join us for Health Equity Day. This annual hybrid conference brings together voices from across the School of Medicine to spotlight research, interventions, and partnerships that address equitable outcomes. With poster presentations, a case competition, and this year’s focus on Community Partnerships and Health Equity, the event offers a powerful opportunity to learn, reflect, and collaborate.

While online registration has closed, on-site registration will be available for the sessions above and the community gathering on Thursday. Zoom links are also available above for sessions offering a virtual option. Even if you are not registered, you’re welcome to watch online as your schedule allows. View the Together We Thrive Week schedule.

Thank you for everything you do for our patients, our learners, and our community. I look forward to seeing many of you throughout the week.

Warmly,

Sandra
