Message from the Office of the SOM Dean

September 13, 2024

Dear colleagues:

Today we celebrate Researcher Appreciation Day, a chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of researchers and celebrate the amazing contributions that make our school a leader in biomedical research.

Over the past year, your hard work has tackled some of the biggest health challenges out there, from breakthroughs in Hepatitis C point-of-care testing, to unlocking ALS mysteries to enhancing the survival of children with leukemia. Thanks to your efforts, we secured more than $738 million in research funding for FY24. This total represents an astounding level of commitment and hard work. And as funding increases, so does our ability to positively impact lives in our community and beyond.

Today, we're honoring a selection of standout faculty who were nominated by their peers and colleagues for groundbreaking research, development of new technologies, and continued pursuit of novel and innovative ideas. Their achievements reflect the collective excellence of our entire faculty. Each of you plays a crucial role in making Emory a top-tier research institution, and I'm truly grateful for all that you do.

Thank you to the Faculty Recognitions Committee and the administrative team for making this appreciation day possible. Your hard work in organizing and selecting our honorees is vital in making today a success.

On behalf of our patients, learners and the broader community, thanks to our faculty for your continued hard work and dedication. Your research is not just advancing science but making a real difference in the lives of people around the world. Congratulations to our honorees.

My best,

Sandra
